Learn: Making Home Feel Like Home

When does a house feel like a home? For me it was when we started to paint. That's when I felt it was safe to start putting up decoration and adding touches that were uniquely us. Every week I add a little more. This week it was curtains and a table cloth.

Hopefully this summer we can continue to decorate, finish up the projects we started, and start some new ones. :) Maybe even sew a few more things for the house!

I am currently learning to sew. I helped make the curtains from my house, but my mother and mother-in-law where the major sewers in this endeavor. I am hoping that with practice I won't need to call in back up!

Live: Hiking

In an effort to live healthy, I am becoming more active. Last week, Jacob and I went on a 8 mile hike. It was quite a journey and harder on my out of shape body than I anticipated. The difficulty of this hike really motivated me to start getting back into shape.Hopefully, I'll be able to make another hiking trek soon and I will be able to complete it with more finesse. 

I would like to add, my dog was a bigger wimp than I. Every single spot of shade was meant as a resting spot for her derrière. The last few miles we were practically dragging her to the top of the mountain.

Do you have any summer fitness goals?
My goal is to be able to participate in a marathon. And have a little more muscle and a lot less fat!

Update

We've been busy! I am finally finished with school. Temporarily been working 10 hour days, which are ending soon ( I hope). SO I should get even more stuff done :) but here is some of what we have been up to.

Planting a Garden

I planted a garden a week ago. Its my first time planting a garden from seeds. So far, I have been a lazy gardener. I buy already mature plants and pot them. This way I only need to water and rarely need to weed while still reap the benefits of fresh vegetables. 

The garden kit I purchased from Sam's Club had seeds for a salsa garden and a regular vegetable garden. We did get a bit of rain so I hope that it was just enough to help my plants and not drown them or wash them away. 

Working in the dirt, smelling the wet earth, and touching the cool soil has a very calming effect. Its very relaxing to garden even if the work is laborious. 

 I can't wait to see how it turns out! 

The Case of the "Missing" Ring

"This looks scandalous! It looks like you're having an affair with a married woman," I say.

"Oooh you're husband doesn't have to know," Jacob says as he raises his eyebrows. He then proceeds to pretend he is the "other" man. I roll my eyes and try not to smile.

"Why are you laughing at me?"

"Um, I am not. You're scandalous."

This is my attempt at shaming my husband. It usually just ends up becoming a hilarious conversation where I set myself up. Some other attempts have started with "Is this your way of saying you don't want to be married to me?" or "You want people to think you're single!". It always goes wrong for me mostly because I know these questions are a bit off the beaten path. They don't really reflect my feelings or his. But, I usually end up laughing at his answers.

He frequently forgets his wedding ring. This week it happened to be at the Sports Complex. Most of the time he takes it off before he goes to bed and doesn't remember to put it on. I really hope in the future that we don't have to replace it because its missing! I know its not intentional. He says he panics when he realizes that its not on his finger. Yet, I can't help but give him a hard time! Is this wrong?
